A hoard of extremely valuable coins was unearthed at Mersea Library thanks to the enthusiasm of all the treasure hunters who came along Thanks to everyone who came to the event at Mersea Library. What a welcoming place it was! Everyone spent a long time making coins be it colouring, sticking, cutting and even coin rubbing! The excellent results are shown below. William took a lot of care drawing images of all things Roman and Norman, from castles to galleys with brilliant results. Amelia chose a purple theme which I hope may one day make an appearance on coins we use. What a great idea. Isla used gold and horses for her hugely valuable coin. Not a good one to lose down the back of the sofa. Amelia came up with a colourful picture of Dog from the Amiere videos. He'd love that! Not to mention lots of rubbings taken from other coins. Elliot drew his own Roman Emperor to add to his gold coin. Excellent. Thanks to all of you for coming along, and to your parents for taking the time to bring you all. It was a great event, and particular thanks to all those who wanted to hear a story and for listening so well. Thanks also to Paul, Julie and the other library staff who hosted the event. As to the treasure - take a look
